New iPhones 8 and 10 have the option to unlock the device’s touchscreen with the addition of a fingerprint reader.
Apple has now announced that this will be the case with the company’s new iPhone models, but that it will only work with the upcoming iPhones XS, XS Max, and XS.
According to the company, the fingerprint reader is only required for unlocking the iPhone XS Plus, Xs Max, X2, and the iPhone 8 Plus.
The company says that it “will enable fingerprint scanning with the iPhone 10” and the XS and X Max models will be able to unlock with the same technology.
The fingerprint reader will only be able be used with unlocked iPhone models.
Apple has been testing the fingerprint scanner on a small number of iPhone models and has confirmed that the company will be offering it in the new iPhones.
The announcement came during a conference call with journalists, and was also accompanied by a press release from the company.
Apple announced that the fingerprint scanners will work with all models of the iPhone, including the iPhone SE, iPhone X, and iPhone Xs, and it will be available for all models in “early 2018”.
The company’s announcement also indicated that it plans to use the fingerprint scanning technology on other models, like the iPad Pro, iPad Pro with Retina display, and iPad mini, to provide better user experience.
The fingerprint scanner is already available for Apple Watch, Apple Watch Series 2, and Apple Watch Edition models, as well as in the Apple TV and Apple TV Pro.
